Before you begin

Determine if Your Device Needs the Update

This update is only for RM-LVR1 devices that currently have firmware versions lower than 2.00.
If your device firmware version is 2.00, this update is not necessary.


  1. On the RM-LVR1 device, press the MENU button, select the (Main Settings) icon, and then press the REC/ENTER button.
  2. From the Main Settings screen, select the (Version) icon, and then press the REC/ENTER button.
  3. If version 2.00 is displayed, your device does not need this update.
    Note: If "Ver. 1.00" is not displayed, please download and install the firmware update.

Important Notes
  • IMPORTANT: This utility is only for use with the Sony® RM-LVR1 Live View Remote. Do not install this utility with any other model.
  • WARNING!!: This firmware update and any changes incurred by it are permanent. It is not possible to return to a previous firmware version after updating this firmware. By continuing this update process and downloading and updating this firmware, you acknowledge that you are aware and understand that this update cannot be reversed.
  • This update process requires the following items for proper updating:
    • A computer with:
      • CPU: Intel® processor
        Note: Core™ Solo and Core Duo processors are not supported.
      • Available Hard Disk Space: 200 MB or more
      • Installed Memory (RAM): 512 MB or more
      • A USB port.
      • Mac OS X® version 10.5 - 10.11.
      • IMPORTANT: For OS X version 10.10 or 10.11, please ensure the Mac OS X Driver Loader has been installed before continuing to update your firmware.

    • Device power supply:
      • This update can only be performed when the remaining battery level has three bars Battery Indicater or more. When performing the firmware update, it's recommended to use a fully charged battery pack.
        WARNING!!: The device may not operate properly if the power is interrupted during the update.
    • USB cable:
      • Use only the USB cable supplied with the device.
        IMPORTANT: Update functionality is not guaranteed with any other USB cable.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
  • Please view this Operating Instructions Supplement for information on the added or modifies functions.

Download and Update the Firmware

  1. Download the Update_RMLVR1V200.dmg file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the Update_RMLVR1V200.dmg file.
    Note: Do not connect the device to the computer until instructed.
  3. Double-click the "Firmware Updater" Firmware Updater Icon icon.
  4. At the Password prompt screen, enter the Name and Password for the administrative account, and then click "OK".

  5. Power on the device.
  6. Connect the device to your computer using the supplied USB cable. On the LCD of the device, "USB Mode" will appear.
  7. At the "Firmware Updater" screen, click "Next".

    WARNING!!: Do not power off the device or disconnect the USB cable until the update process is complete.
  8. When the updater recognizes the device connection, the next "Firmware Updater" screen is displayed on the computer, and the device screen displays the following image.

  9. At the "Firmware Updater" screen, click "Next".

  10. When the following screen is displayed, check the version number at the lower left.

    If the current version is lower than 2.00, click "Next".
    Note: If the current version is "2.00", your device does not need this update. Stop the USB connection and click "Finish". Then power off the device and then back on again.

  11. WARNING!!: Do not disconnect the USB cable from the device or the computer during the update process.
  12. Reset the device.
    To reset the device, press the REC/ENTER button on the device.

    Note: The screen will turn off after pressing the REC/ENTER button. Please continue to the next step.
  13. At the "Firmware Updater" screen, click "Next".

  14. After resetting, reconnection of the device is verified, when the following screen is displayed, click "Run".
    Note: The update process takes about ten minutes to complete.

    WARNING!!: Do not power off the device or disconnect the USB cable until the update process is complete.
  15. When the following screen is displayed, click "Finish".

  16. You may now disconnect the USB cable.
  17. Power off the device and then back on again.
Check the Firmware Version After Updating (optional)
  1. On the RM-LVR1 device, press the MENU button, select the (Main Settings) icon, and then press the REC/ENTER button.
  2. From the Main Settings screen, select the (Version) icon, and then press the REC/ENTER button.
  3. If version 2.00 is displayed, the firmware update was successful.
    Note: If "Ver. 2.00" is not displayed, please download and install the firmware update again..
