Can movies recorded on the internal memory or a Memory Stick Duo™ media be transferred to a computer when the image database files are damaged?

    It is possible to transfer the movies even when the image database files have been damaged. However, the method to transfer the movies differs depending whether your camcorder records in standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD). Refer to the appropriate section below to import the movies.

    HD MOVIES

    1. Turn on the camcorder.
    2. When the error message appears on the touch-screen LCD, touch YES to create new image database files.
    3. Turn on the computer
    4. Connect the camcorder to the computer with the USB cable.

      NOTE: The HD movies without database information are automatically detected by the Handycam® Utility appliation.

    5. Start the Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software.
    6. Use the PMB software to import the HD movies.

    SD MOVIES

    1. Turn on the camcorder.
    2. When the error message appears on the touch-screen LCD, touch YES to create new image database files.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Register the image data to the new database files.
      1. In the camcorder menu, go into the MANAGE MEDIA section.
      2. Select REPAIR IMG. DBF.
      3. Select the appropriate media.
        • Choose INT. MEMORY for the internal memory.
        • Choose MEMORY STICK for the Memory Stick Duo media.
    5. Connect the camcorder to the computer using the USB cable.
    6. Use the PMB software to import the SD movies.
