How to restore the computer to the last known good configuration.

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

    If you are unable to start the Windows® operating system, but is started correctly the last time you turned on the computer, restoring to the Last Known Good Configuration may help.

    NOTE: The Last Known Good Configuration option will resolve issues related to incorrect drivers or configurations. It will not resolve issues due to corrupted or missing files and will not restore the entire registry, other system files or configurations.

    1. Restart the computer.
    2. When the VAIO® screen is displayed, press and hold the F8 key for 7-10 seconds.
    3. In the Advanced Boot Options menu, use the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (advanced).
    4. Press the ENTER key.
