What is the purpose of the 12 Tone Analysis function of the Walkman® player?

The 12 Tone Analysis function is used to enhance the ZAPPIN™ function of the portable player. When a song is transferred to the portable player and the 12 Tone Analysis is enabled, the most melodic or rhythmical song passages are used, making the song more recognizable when the ZAPPIN function is used. The ZAPPIN function will scan through your music, play a portion of the melody, and then let you choose to skip or play the song.

NOTE: If the 12 Tone Analysis is not enabled or it is unable to detect the most recognizable passage, the song is played back from the 45-second point from the beginning.
