Videos are not being recognized and do not import when using the Apple iMovie software.

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

This issue may be due to missing image database files. If image database files are corrupted or deleted and then repaired on the camera, any videos recorded before the image database files were repaired will not be recognized by the Apple® iMovie® software - even if the video files are still there. In this case, it is necessary to copy the videos to the Macintosh® computer manually .

Another possibility that may prevent some videos from being recognized by the iMovie software is if both Standard Definition and High Definition videos have been recorded with the camera - the iMovie software may only recognize the Standard Definition videos. In this case, transfer the Standard Definition videos to the computer before attempting to transfer the High Definition videos.

Follow the steps below to transfer both Standard Definition and High Definition movies to the computer using the iMovie software.

    NOTES:

    1. Connect the camera to the Macintosh computer with the USB cable.
    2. Import the Standard Definition videos to the computer using the iMovie software.
    3. Delete the Standard Definition videos from the camera.
    4. Disconnect the camera from the computer.
    5. Change the Movie Media option in the camera to HD.
    6. Reconnect the camera to the computer.
    7. Import the High Definition videos to the computer using the iMovie software.
