IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

As part of the normal operation of the TV, a source device must be turned on or active and connected to the input of the TV for the input to be selectable. Inputs that do not have an active component connected to them will be skipped and appear shaded out and disabled.

NOTE: The term input in this solution refers to how a source device, such as a cable set-top box, satellite receiver, or Blu-ray Disc® player is connected to the TV. Connections can be any of the following:

    • Antenna / Cable (ANT) using an RF cable
    • HDMI® cable
    • Composite cable
    • Component cable

Follow the steps below if you prefer to have the input on the TV active all the time.

    1. On the TV remote, press the HOME button.
    2. Select Channels and Inputs.
    3. Press the Enter button.
    4. Select Manage Inputs.
    5. Press the Enter button.
    6. Select the input being used.
    7. Select Always.
    8. Press the Enter button.
    9. Repeat the steps above to change the setting of another input or press the HOME button twice to exit the menu.

If the steps above failed, then try another device. Devices may include a DVD player, a Blu-ray Disc player, a VCR, or a computer with any of the connection types described above.
