How to close an application in the new Windows User Interface (UI).

There is not really a need to close an App within the new Windows User Interface (UI). When the Apps are not used anymore, the operating system handles the resources and saving state on the background. If you do want to manually close an App, if an App happens to have stopped running for an instance, you may use either of the options below:

Option 1:

1. In the screen of the application you want to close, move the cursor to the top edge of the screen until it turns into open hand.
2. While the cursor looks like an open hand, click and hold the left mouse button and drag the mouse down.

   NOTE:  When you perform this operation, the App will shrink to a thumbnail and the cursor will change to a closed or gripped hand.

3. Drag the App thumbnail down to the bottom of the screen and then release the mouse button.

   NOTE:  When the app is closed using this option, it is also removed from the list displayed in the App Switching Bar.

Option 2:

1. Point to (but do not click) the lower-left or top-left corner of the screen, and then move the mouse cursor to the center-left portion of the screen to open the App Switching Bar.
2. On the App Switching Bar, right-click the thumbnail of the app you want to close, and then click Close.
