How to check if the infrared (IR) blaster function is working.

    If you programmed the media box to operate another device with the IR blaster function, but the device is not responding, you can check the IR blasters on the media box. Although IR is invisible to the human eye, it is possible to see the IR blaster signal by looking at the media box through a camera or camcorder. If you have a cell phone with a built-in camera, you can use it, too.

    The easy way to test this is to have someone press and hold one of the buttons on the media box remote control. For example, the VOL+ or VOL- button can be pressed if you programmed the media box to control your TV. While the button is being pressed you can look through the viewfinder or LCD screen of the camera and see the IR blasters illuminate if they are working correctly.

    There are four IR blasters on the media box as shown in the diagram below.

    NOTE:  Although all four IR blasters should simultaneously illuminate, it may be difficult to see them all at once. If this is the case, try viewing the media box from both sides and at different angles with your camera.
