There is no sound when connected to an Audio Video (A/V) receiver

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if there is no sound when connected to an Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.

    1. Ensure an audio cable is connected to the AUDIO OUT jack on the TV.
    2. Ensure the other end of the audio cable is connected to an appropriate AUDIO INPUT jack on the A/V receiver.

IMPORTANT: Do not connect the audio cable to the PHONO jack on a stereo receiver. A PHONO jack is not compatible with the standard line-level signal supplied by the TV.

    3. Turn on the TV.
    4. Turn on the A/V receiver.
    5. Tune the A/V receiver to the appropriate AUDIO INPUT to receive the audio signal from the TV.
    6. If there is still no audio, slightly increase the TV volume.
    7. If there is still no audio, slightly increase the volume level on the A/V receiver.
    8. Turn off the internal speakers of the TV.

NOTE: Some TV must have the internal speakers turned off to allow the audio output jacks to operate.

    9. Set the AUDIO OUT jack  on the TV to FIXED.
    10. Set the Multi-channel Television Sound (MTS) to STEREO.
    11. If the sound is still not being output to the stereo receiver, perform a power reset  on the TV.
    12. Once again, turn off the internal speakers of the TV.

NOTE: For some 2014 TV models, Internet Video apps may output Linear PCM 2.0 instead of Dolby® Digital Plus 5.1. To resolve this issue, disable the Audio Description setting.
