How to upgrade the Random Access Memory (RAM).
NOTE: These computers ship with between 512MB and 1GB of installed RAM, expandable to a maximum of 2GB.
The following RAM configurations are supported:
NOTES:
- These computers have a total of four memory slots and ship with either two 256MB memory module or two 512MB memory modules.
- Memory modules up to 512MB in size can be added to a maximum memory amount of 2GB (2048MB).
Total Memory | Slot 1 | Slot 2 | Slot 3 | Slot 4 |
---|---|---|---|---|
512MB | 256MB | Empty | 256MB | Empty |
1024MB | 256MB | 256MB | 256MB | 256MB |
1024MB | 512MB | Empty | 512MB | Empty |
1536MB | 512MB | 256MB | 512MB | 256MB |
2048MB | 512MB | 512MB | 512MB | 512MB |
When purchasing memory to install into the computer, select SDRAM meeting the following specifications and guidelines:
- Double Data Rate2-Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (DDR2-SDRAM)
- PC2-4200 (DDR2-533 CL4) SO-DIMM
- 533MHz
NOTE: CL4 refers to the Column Address Strobe (CAS) Latency of the RAM. CL4 indicates that the computer will wait 4 clock cycles between a request for a unit of information in memory and the receipt of that information for further processing.
Information regarding how to install RAM is available beginning on page 68 of the manual included with your computer.
