How to program remote control signals for a key or button using the learning function.

    Follow this procedure to program remote control signals for a key or button using the learning function.

    1. On the Sony® remote control, press the HOME button.
    2. On the touch-screen LCD, tap and hold the SET key for 2 seconds.
    3. Release the SET key.
    4. Tap the COMPONENT EDIT key.
    5. Tap the LEARN key.
    6. Tap the appropriate component key for the type of remote signal that is to be learned.
    7. NOTES:

      • Tap TV to learn a signal from a television remote control.
      • Tap VCR to learn a signal from a VCR remote control.
      • Tap CABLE to learn a signal from a cable box remote control.
      • Tap DVD to learn a signal from a remote control for a DVD player.
      • Tap DVR to learn a signal from a remote control for a digital video recorder.
      • Tap SAT to learn a signal from a remote control for a satellite receiver.
      • Tap RCVR to learn a signal from a remote control for an Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.
      • Tap CD to learn a signal from a remote control for a CD player.
      • Tap MD to learn a signal from a remote control for a MiniDisc (MD) player.
    8. Place the Sony® remote control and the remote control for the other device so that the Infrared (IR) transmitter on both face each other.
    9. On the Sony® remote control or the touch-screen LCD, tap the key or press the button that is to learn the remote signal.
    10. On the remote control for the other device, press and hold the button whose signal is to be learned until a beep sound is heard.
    11. NOTE: If a beep sounds five times, then the Sony® remote control did not successfully learn the signal.

    12. Release the button.
    13. On the Sony® remote control, press and hold the COMMANDER OFF button for 2 seconds.
    14. Release the COMMANDER OFF button.
