Can memory cards formatted by other cameras be used?

Memory cards formatted by a different camera may cause a malfunction. The memory card may not be recognized or the camera may be unable to save or load image data. The memory card should be formatted in the camera you are using to ensure compatibility.

NOTE: Newly-purchased memory cards also may be unusable until they are formatted in the camera.
