The Blu-ray Disc Player Doesn't Recognize the External HDD
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
The following may cause the Blu-ray Disc™ player not to recognize the external hard disk drive (HDD).
- The device can only read the first partition of the external HDD. The supported partition system is MBR, not GPT.
- The file system of the external HDD is corrupted or unsupported, or the external HDD itself isn't supported.
Note: The supported formats are FAT32, NTFS, and exFAT. Check the specifications of the device to see what format it supports. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
- Disconnect the external HDD.
- Power off the device.
- Reconnect the external HDD.
- Power on the device.
- If the device still doesn't recognize the external HDD, format the external HDD.
WARNING! There is a risk of data loss. Make sure the files from your external HDD are backed up on your computer before formatting.
