Unable to delete the content of a USB memory device connected to my TV using the Android TV or Google TV apps

The ability to delete the content of a USB memory device using an Android TV™ or Google TV™ application differs depending on the Android OS version of the TV.

Notes: You can check the OS version of your TV by following the Which version of the Android operating system is installed on my Android TV or Google TV? article.

TV models with Android 9 or later

You cannot delete the content of a USB memory device using the Media Player, Album, Music, or Video applications of the TV. To delete the content, use another device, such as a computer or a tablet.

TV models with Android 8.0 or earlier

You can delete the content of a USB memory device from within the Album category, but you cannot delete content from within the Music or Video categories. The Music and Video categories are read-only. To delete content from the Music or Video category, use a computer.

Notes: Video content displayed in the Album category can also be deleted.

    • To delete one photo or video file:
      1. Select a photo or video file.
      2. On the supplied remote, press the ACTION MENU button.
      3. In the Album category, select Delete.
    • Delete multiple photos or videos:
      1. Display the photos or videos as a list.
      2. On the supplied remote, press the ACTION MENU button.
      3. In the Album category, choose Select item.
      4. Press the ACTION MENU button again.
      5. In the Album category, select Delete.

    Notes:

    • The Album and Music category content that came pre-installed on the TV cannot be deleted.
    • If the Album application does not display the Delete menu, you'll need to perform a software update.
