Install the Camera Driver Loader on a Computer with macOS High Sierra

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

The Driver Loader installation is required on a computer with macOS® High Sierra version 10.13 before you can update the firmware of your camera.

Before You Start

1. Fully charge the camera battery.
2. Remove the memory card.
3. Set your camera USB settings.

   Set USB Connection to Mass Storage.

   1. On your camera, press the MENU button.
   2. Select Setup.
   3. Select USB Connection.
   4. Select Mass Storage.

   Set LUN Setting to Single.

   1. On your camera, press the MENU button.
   2. Select Setup.
   3. Select LUN Setting.
   4. Select Single.

   Set USB Power Supply to Off.

   1. On your camera, press the MENU button.
   2. Select Setup.
   3. Select USB Power Supply.
   4. Select Off.

4. Log in as an administrator on your computer running on macOS High Sierra.
5. Download your camera's Driver Loader and System Software Updater (firmware). Downloads are posted on your model support page.

Install the Driver Loader Software

1. Double-click the Driver Loader icon to run the software.

   

2. Enter the administrator password and click on OK.

   

   If a pop-up message appears, follow the instructions written on it.

   

   Note: Don't press the OK button yet.

   1. Check the Security and Privacy setting window.

      • Click the Allow button if it's available, and then click the padlock icon to unlock it.

        

      • If prompted, restart the computer and repeat the Driver Loader installation from Step 1.
      • If Allow isn't displayed in the General tab, proceed to the next step.

3. Connect your camera to the USB port of the computer.
   • Your camera screen displays the USB Mode.

     

4. On the Driver Loader window, click OK.

   

5. Run the camera's System Software Updater.

If an error message appears saying the camera is already connected to your computer while running the System Software Updater, follow the steps below:

1. On the System Software Updater window, click Finish.
2. Unplug the camera.
3. Run the updater again.
4. Connect the camera when prompted.
