Android TV OS update information for the X900H and X90CH series TVs

A major software update is scheduled to begin in June of 2021 for your Android TV™ model. This article explains new and enhanced features, and other changes provided with this update.

Menu and interface changes

• Settings menu changes

  After the update, the Settings menu items are located on the left side of the screen, and the details of the selected content is displayed on the right side.
  

  In addition, some of the setting names and locations are changed. For example, after the update, Device Preferences is called System.

Major function changes

• Restricted profile function

  The Restricted profile in the Security & restrictions section, under Device Preferences, is not supported after the update. Select the Parental controls function to set restrictions to enjoy safe apps and video streaming services. To set parental controls, follow the steps below:

  1. On the supplied remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button.
  2. Select Parental controls.
  3. You can set the following parental control features to improve safe use of the TV for your children:
     • Restrict TV channels and use of external inputs
     • Restrict use of apps
     • Restrict TV usage time
• BRAVIA Sync function

  After the update, the Sync Menu item is no longer available from the Quick Settings list. To operate BRAVIA Sync-compatible devices from the TV, use the INPUT button on the remote control to select the device you want to operate.

New & enhanced features

• Living Decor

  The Living Decor function allows your TV to be used as a photo frame, clock, or to look like a part of an interior. The amount of available content for this feature will increased over time with future updates. The Living Decor function can be started from the list of apps.
  

• Timers & Clock

  The Alarms feature is added to the timer functions and has the ability to display a clock on the television screen. You can select Timers & Clock from the list of apps.

  Note: For OLED models, in order to reduce image retention, do not set the clock to display all the time.

• TV menu improvement

  Easy registration of your favorite channels:

  • From the TV menu, use the remote control to locate the channel you want to register, then press the up arrow button and you'll be prompted to add it to your favorites.
• Most watched

  The Most watched feature is added to the TV menu and Guide, which allows you to select a most watched channel and display the program list for that channel.

  Note: It takes a period of time to develop and display the most watched channels.
