Obtaining music information and 12 TONE ANALYSIS (Music Center for PC Ver.1.0)
You can obtain music information (meta information such as names of albums, artists or songs) automatically via the Internet using the CDDB (Gracenote CD DataBase), a data service for song information. The obtained music information is displayed on the WALKMAN® after songs have been transferred.
Also, after you perform 12 TONE ANALYSIS for songs, you can set conditions for creating a Dynamic Playlist.
Note
- To use the CDDB service, your computer must be connected to the Internet.
- You can use the CDDB service for free. However, you may need to sign up for Gracenote when you use this service for the first time. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Obtaining music information when you import an audio CD
When you import songs from an audio CD, meta information (such as the names of albums, artists, or songs) is obtained automatically.
When you cannot obtain music information
- Information may be blocked by anti-virus software. Deactivate the settings of the software if required.
- You cannot obtain music information for CDs that are not registered to the CDDB. In this case, change the items (such as the title) manually.
- If retrieval of music information does not start automatically, click [Get CD info] .
Obtaining music information for songs in “Music Center for PC”
You can search for song titles or album titles and obtain them for selected songs or albums in the list.

Click [Music Library] in the left pane.

Select the song or album for which you want to obtain music information from the song list.

Select [Get CD and Song Info] from the [Tools] menu.
“Music Center for PC” will start searching for music information automatically.
When music information is found, the information (such as the album title, artist name, or song title) will appear.
Select the desired information from the suggestions and click [OK]. The music information will appear in the list.
Obtaining or analyzing music information automatically
You can search for songs that do not have set music information (such as songs that are “Untitled” or songs that have not been subjected to 12 TONE ANALYSIS). Then, you can automatically obtain music information and perform 12 TONE ANALYSIS.

Select [Get Song Info and 12 Tone Analysis] from the [Tools] menu.

Click [Automatically retrieve song info / perform 12 Tone Analysis].
Select the information that you want to obtain automatically, and add a check mark to the check box.

Click [OK].
Music information will be obtained. Then, 12 TONE ANALYSIS will be performed automatically.
If music information is found, the applicable music information will be obtained automatically.
Note
- You cannot obtain music information for CDs that are not registered to the CDDB. In this case, change the items (such as the title) manually.
