Which camera features are new in the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact?

The Xperia™ XZ and Xperia™ X Compact camera uses triple image sensing technology designed to capture images in challenging conditions. Triple image sensing technology comprises the image sensor with Predictive Hybrid auto focus, the Laser Autofocus sensor, and the RGBC-IR sensor.

    • Sony's Exmor RS™ for mobile image sensor is equipped with Predictive Hybrid Autofocus. The Predictive Hybrid Autofocus makes it possible to take blur-free pictures of moving objects. The technology allows the camera to predict where the object that you have focused on will go, and can therefore continuously keep the object in focus as it moves.
    • The new Laser Autofocus sensor measures the distance to the object. This allows the camera to focus fast and to capture sharp images even in low-light and low-contrast conditions.
    • The RGBC-IR sensor assists the image sensor by identifying and measuring the light source so that the camera can adjust the white balance accordingly.  The result is pictures that reproduce colours just as you see them.
    • The Macro functionality is included in Superior Auto mode, and allows the camera to focus on objects close to the camera lens.

The Xperia™ XZ camera also introduces a 5-axis stabilisation feature. This feature allows you to shoot smoother videos when moving or when capturing extreme close-ups. The 5-axis stabilisation feature is used when recording a video, but the output of XY direction gets stronger when using macro.
