How can I create a higher quality Super Slow Motion movie?

You may not be entirely satisfied with the quality of your Super Slow Motion (960 fps) movie, filmed with Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ3, Xperia XZ Premium or Xperia XZs. The movie may turn out very dark, or have rough resolution and noise. If the movie is filmed under fluorescent lights, the movie may also contain flickering. This does not mean that the camera of your device is defect, but is a result of too dark or flickering lighting conditions during filming.

How to avoid flicker, very dark brightness, rough resolution and noise

Super Slow Motion (960 fps) records 960 frames per second, a lot more than a regular movie does. This means that the exposure time is extremely short. If you record the movie in good lighting conditions, for example outside, you can take full advantage of the camera’s hardware capability. To create a movie with the best possible recording quality, make sure you record the movie in the right lighting conditions:

• Record the movie outside, where the natural sunlight makes the lighting conditions better.
• If you are indoors - record the movie as close as possible to a bright source of light.
• Record the movie in lighting that doesn’t flicker, for example LED light or incandescent illumination. Make sure to avoid fluorescent lighting.

If you can’t find a spot with the right lighting conditions described above, we recommend that you record the movie in Slow Motion Mode (120 fps), which does not require as perfect lighting conditions as Super Slow Motion does. Slow Motion Mode records less frames per minute, but you will still be able to enjoy the Slow Motion effect.
