Connect a Soundbar to your TV

How to connect your TV and soundbar will depend on the connection ports they have available.
Check your devices and then choose the appropriate connection method below.

    Before you start

    • The connections illustrated in this solution use the HT-CT660 soundbar. Your soundbar and TV connections may vary. Check your manuals for model-specific information.

    1. Select your Connection Method

HDMI (eARC/ARC) HDMI and Optical digital audio cable Optical digital audio cable only

To determine if the HDMI IN port on your TV supports the  Audio Return Channel (eARC/ARC)  function, check for the eARC/ARC label. If it doesn't have this label, the eARC/ARC function won't work.

    1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable (sold separately) to the HDMI IN (eARC/ARC) port on your TV.
    2. Connect the other end to the TV OUT (eARC/ARC) port on your soundbar.

When you connect only with an optical audio cable, functions which require an HDMI connection, such as power interlock and volume control with the TV remote, won't be possible.

    1. Connect an optical audio cable from the TV's Optical digital audio out jack to the OPTICAL IN jack on your soundbar.
