How to troubleshoot AM or FM radio reception issues on a portable stereo system or boombox.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot AM or FM radio reception issues.

IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is required, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

    1. Ensure the appropriate AM or FM band is selected.

NOTE: It may be difficult to receive AM radio stations clearly in rural areas.

    2. If possible, relocate the position of the antenna.
    3. Ensure fresh batteries are installed.
    4. Move the portable stereo system to another location.

NOTE: If you are comparing reception of an older radio that has an analog/dial tuner to the reception of a newer portable audio device or boombox that has a digital tuner, you may notice differences in the stations received by each device due to the fine-tuning capability found in the analog tuners that may be able to tune in weaker signals.

If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.  Go to Product Repair.
