Nothing appears on the TV screen when the video device is connected to the composite or component video input terminal of the AV receiver while the AV receiver and the TV is connected via the HDMI connection.

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

The AV receiver is not capable of converting a composite or component video input into an HDMI® output. To display images on the TV screen when the video device is connected to the composite or component video input terminal of the AV receiver, connect the TV to the composite or component video output terminal of the AV receiver and not the HDMI output terminal as shown in the image below.

    AV receiver connection

Choose an output terminal of the AV receiver that is connected to the TV based on an input method of the AV receiver, then check whether an image appears on the TV screen. Below are sample connections.

    • When the video device is connected to the VIDEO/AUDIO in SAT/CATV jacks of the AV receiver with a composite cable, connect the MONITOR OUT in VIDEO terminals of the AV receiver and the TV with an RCA cable.
    • When the video device and the AV receiver are connected via a component cable, connect the MONITOR OUT in COMPONENT VIDEO MONITOR OUT jack of the AV receiver and a TV with a component cable.

    NOTES:

    • If the video device has an HDMI output terminal, connect the video device and the AV receiver with an HDMI cable, then check whether an image appears on the TV screen. For more details on the different connection types, check the specifications or supplied operations guide. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
    • The audio of the video device will come out from the AV receiver if an input function of the AV receiver is changed to the one that the video device is connected to. Use the Input buttons on the supplied remote control or INPUT SELECTOR on the AV receiver itself.
