This information is provided to help resolve an issue with the HT-Z9F subwoofer or optional SA-Z9R rear speakers not connecting.
Note: The soundbar communicates with the subwoofer and rear speakers wirelessly.
Follow these instructions and then check if the issue is resolved:
- Make sure your soundbar has the latest update.
Downloads are posted on your model support page.
- Perform a reset on the system. If you need detailed instuctions, refer to your product
manuals
.
- Press and hold the (power) and - (volume down) button on the Soundbar for more than five seconds.
- Unplug the AC power cord.
- Plug the AC power cord back in again, and press the (power) button to turn on the unit.
- Change the Wireless Playback Quality from Sound Quality to Connection.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Wireless Playback Quality → Connection.
- Changing the RF Channel setting to [OFF].
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → RF Channel → Off.
If the issue still occurs, follow the instructions according to the status of the LED on the subwoofer or speakers:
The LED status slowly flashes in green
The subwoofer or rear speakers are not connected to the system. Check the wireless connection status:
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button. The home menu appears on the TV screen.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Check wireless connection.
- Confirm the status of the subwoofer or rear speaker connection. If it isn't connected, proceed with manual linking:
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Start manual linking.
- The Start manual linking screen appears on the TV screen.
- On the back of the subwoofer or rear speakers, press the LINK button. The power indicator flashes twice repeatedly in green when LINK is pressed.
- Select Start. The manual link starts and the connecting process appears on the TV screen. To cancel the manual link, select Cancel.
- When Connected appears on all the speakers being used (subwoofer or rear speaker), select Finish, and then press ENTER.
- The link is established and the power indicator of the subwoofer or rear speaker lights in green.
The LED status lights in green
The subwoofer or rear speakers are connected to the system. Everything is set up correctly between the subwoofer and soundbar, however, you may need to check your audio source connecting cables. If the connection is fine, check the wireless connection status:
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button. The home menu appears on the TV screen.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Check wireless connection.
- Confirm the status of the subwoofer or rear speaker connection. If it isn't connected, proceed with manual linking:
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Start manual linking.
- The Start manual linking screen appears on the TV screen.
- On the back of the subwoofer or rear speakers, press the LINK button. The power indicator flashes twice repeatedly in green when LINK is pressed.
- Select Start. The manual link starts and the connecting process appears on the TV screen. To cancel the manual link, select Cancel.
- When Connected appears on all the speakers being used (subwoofer or rear speaker), select Finish, and then press ENTER.
- The link is established and the power indicator of the subwoofer or rear speaker lights in green.
The LED status flashes twice repeatedly in green
The subwoofer or rear speakers is attempting to connect to the system. Follow these instructions to complete the manual linking.
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Start manual linking.
- Confirm the status of the subwoofer or rear speaker connection. If it isn't connected, proceed with manual linking:
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Start manual linking.
- The Start manual linking screen appears on the TV screen.
- On the back of the subwoofer or rear speakers, press the LINK button. The power indicator flashes twice repeatedly in green when LINK is pressed.
- Select Start. The manual link starts and the connecting process appears on the TV screen. To cancel the manual link, select Cancel.
- When Connected appears on all the speakers being used (subwoofer or rear speaker), select Finish, and then press ENTER.
- The link is established and the power indicator of the subwoofer or rear speaker lights in green.
The LED status flashes/lights in orange
The software is updating. Audio will not transmit from the subwoofer or rear speakers during a software update. Wait for the update to complete, and then try again.
The LED status lights in red
If the soundbar is on, this indicates that the subwoofer, rear speakers, and soundbar are not communicating. Perform these steps to complete the manual linking:
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Start manual linking.
- Confirm the status of the subwoofer or rear speaker connection. If it isn't connected, proceed with manual linking:
- On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Start manual linking.
- The Start manual linking screen appears on the TV screen.
- On the back of the subwoofer or rear speakers, press the LINK button. The power indicator flashes twice repeatedly in green when LINK is pressed.
- Select Start. The manual link starts and the connecting process appears on the TV screen. To cancel the manual link, select Cancel.
- When Connected appears on all the speakers being used (subwoofer or rear speaker), select Finish, and then press ENTER.
- The link is established and the power indicator of the subwoofer or rear speaker lights in green.
The LED light turns off
- Turn on the subwoofer or rear speakers.
- If it won't turn on, unplug the power cord and plug it in to a different wall outlet.
- If it still doesn't turn on, the subwoofer or rear speakers may not be working or the LED is inoperative and require repair.  Go to Product Repair. 
The soundbar still has audio output (voices, etc) when the subwoofer or rear speakers disconnects
The subwoofer or rear speakers LED should be lit in red if it is disconnected, or flashes slowly in green if interference has occurred and it is attempting to reconnect.
- If there is no audio at all (from the soundbar, subwoofer, or rear speakers), this indicates that the audio stream from your source device has stopped transmitting.
- Make sure you are using a good Ultra High Speed HDMI® cable.
The audio is intermittent
Connecting the TV to the soundbar using the Bluetooth® function may result in intermittent audio if there is wireless interference. If the interference continues, connect your TV to the soundbar using a wired connection.
