How can I convert HEIF images to display on other devices?

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

The High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF) provides up to 16-bit color, offers lossless compression, and takes up less size than the same JPEG image (8-bit color). These improvements make the HEIF format an alternative to using JPEG images.

HEIF images are taken with 10-bit color to provide higher quality and color detail. Although this format complies with ISO standards, it will not display on many smartphones and other devices as they may only support 8-bit HEIF color or may not support the format at all.

To playback 10-bit HEIF images taken with this camera to a smartphone or other device, convert them into JPEG or TIFF image files on a computer using Imaging Edge Desktop software before transfer.
