What should I do if the camcorder gets wet or is accidentally dropped into water?

Follow the steps below if the camcorder gets wet or is accidentally dropped into water:

1. Immediately retrieve the camcorder from the water or move it to a dry location.

   WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Do not attempt to turn on the camcorder or eject the recording media at this time. Due to the voltage provided by the battery, if any amount of water has leaked into the camcorder circuits, turning on the camcorder or attempting to eject the recording media at this time could cause significant damage to the camcorder.

2. Use a dry towel to wipe any water off the exterior of the camcorder.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Place the camcorder in a warm, dry location for at least 24-48 hours to allow sufficient time for any internal moisture to evaporate.

   IMPORTANT: Only after the camcorder has had a significant time to dry should you attempt to turn it on or remove the media.

5. Attempt to remove the media.

   IMPORTANT: If after this time you are able to remove the media, you should leave the media compartment open for another 24 hours and also allow time for the media itself to fully dry.

If after following the steps above it is determined that the camcorder is not operating, then it should be evaluated by an authorized service technician.
