Fast Hybrid AF Doesn't Work

Fast Hybrid AF won't function if the camera or lens isn't supported, or if the camera settings or shooting conditions prevent the Fast Hybrid AF from operating.
- Check if your camera supports the Fast Hybrid AF feature:
- Select your camera model from the Alpha Camera Compatibility Information website.
- Choose one of the lenses from the following list:
- SEL1855
- SEL55210
- SEL18200
- SEL24F18Z
- SEL30M35
- SEL50F18
- Cameras with Fast Hybrid AF will have the note Fast Hybrid AF is available with the lens system software Ver.02 or later.
- Update your camera to the latest software version. Downloads are posted on your model support page.
- If you have the following lenses, update the lens software to the latest version.
- SEL1855
- SEL55210
- SEL18200
- SEL24F18Z
- SEL30M35
- SEL50F18
- Fast Hybrid AF won't function in the following conditions:
- The subject is outside the Phase Detection AF Area
- The lens is incompatible with Fast Hybrid AF.
- A lens mount adapter is used.
- The scene is dimly lit.
- The aperture value is greater than F6.3 for NEX-5T, NEX-5R, and NEX-6 cameras.
- The aperture value is greater than F11 for ILCE-5000 series, ILCE-6000 series and ILCE-9 cameras.
- The aperture value is greater than F8.0 for ILCE-7 series cameras.
- Shooting a subject without contrast such as a blue sky or a white wall.
