Migrating data to another computer (Making a backup/Restoring data)
To use “Music Center for PC” on another computer, such as when you replace your computer, migrate the data for “Music Center for PC” to the new computer.
Save a backup copy of the data on the old computer, and then restore it on the new computer to migrate the data.
Hint
- “Music Center for PC Ver. 2.1.0” does not have a backup tool. You can back up the data by copying the necessary files.
Making a backup of the data
You can back up data by copying music files and application data files.

Create a new folder for the backup data in the desired location.
When you migrate data to a new computer, create a new folder on external media such as an external HDD.
In these explanations, the new folder is named “Backup”. -
Copy the music files to the “Backup” folder.
For songs imported from audio CDs or music downloading services, copy the music files as follows.
Location of the music files Destination in the “Backup” folder C:\Users\[User name]\Music → Backup\[User name]\Music C:\Users\Public\Music → Backup\Public\Music Note
- If you have changed the location of the music files, copy them to a folder under the “Backup” folder so that the file path corresponds to the original location.
- For songs imported from folders other than those described above, confirm the location of the music files by referring to the page below, and then copy the music files to the “Backup” folder.

Copy the application data files to the “Backup” folder.
Copy the following three folders to the “Backup” folder.
- C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Music Center\db
- C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Music Center\config
- C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Music Center\fringe

- Some cover art images may not be displayed on the new computer.
Restoring the data on the new computer
You can restore the music files and application data files from the backup data.
Make sure that the latest version of “Music Center for PC” is installed on the new computer.

Launch “Music Center for PC” on the new computer, and then exit it.

Copy the music files from the “Backup” folder.
Copy the music files as follows.
Source in the “Backup” folder Destination on the new computer Backup\[User name]\Music → Create a folder as follows, and then copy the folder.
C:\Users\[User name (same as the copy source)]\MusicBackup\Public\Music → C:\Users\Public\Music For music files that you copied to folders other than those above when you made a backup, copy them to the same location on the new computer as the original location on the old computer.

Copy the application data files from the “Backup” folder.
Copy the application data files as follows.
Folder name Destination on the new computer db → Copy and overwrite the folder under the following folder.
C:\Users\[User name (on the new computer)]\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Music Center\config → Copy and overwrite the folder under the following folder.
C:\Users\[User name (on the new computer)]\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Music Center\fringe → Create a folder as follows, and then copy the folder.
C:\Users\[User name (same as the copy source)]\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Music Center\ -
Launch “Music Center for PC”, and then check if the data has been restored.
