This utility upgrades Image Converter 2, 2Plus and 3 (ver. 3.0) software to Image Converter 3 ver 3.1. This upgrade enables users to convert images and video stored on Memory Stick media into formats that can be used by PSP® devices.

Before You Start

Enhancements over Image Converter ver 3.0

  • Wizard to convert files into PSP display size (480x270), or standard definition TV size (720x480).
  • Automatically convert video recorded by Windows Media Center and add it to the Transfer to list.
    NOTE: This feature requires the following:
    • Intel® CPU:

Important Notes

  • Image Converter 1.5 cannot be upgraded to Image Converter 3. Please use software that is compatible with your devices. You can install both Image Converter 3 and Image Converter 1.5 on the same computer, but it is not possible to use them simultaneously.
  • You cannot have Converter 2, Image Converter 2 Plus Image Converter 3 version 3.0 installed on the computer simultaneously with Image Converter 3 version 3.1.
  • The Image Converter 2 or Image Converter 2 Plus installation CD is required in order to perform this upgrade.
  • If Image Converter 2, Image Converter 2 Plus Image Converter 3 version 3.0 is installed on the computer, it will be automatically uninstalled when installing Image Converter 3 version 3.1.
    NOTE: After uninstallation, double-click the INST_IC3100_CDUPD.EXE file to continue installing Image Converter 3 version 3.1.
  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

  1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  2. Download the INST_IC3100_CDUPD.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the INST_IC3100_CDUPD.EXE file to begin the installation.
  4. When prompted, insert the Image Converter 2 or Image Converter 2 Plus installation CD into the computer CD-ROM drive and click "Retry".
    IMPORTANT: Do not remove the installation CD from the drive until the upgrade process is complete.
  5. Carefully follow the on-screen prompts to complete the upgrade.
  6. If Image Converter 2, Image Converter 2 Plus Image Converter 3 version 3.0 is installed on the computer, it will be automatically uninstalled when installing Image Converter 3 version 3.1.
    NOTE: After uninstallation, double-click the INST_IC3100_CDUPD.EXE file to continue installing Image Converter 3 version 3.1.

Once the upgrade process has been completed, the Image Converter 2 or Image Converter 2 Plus installation CD can be removed from the drive.

Supported File Formats

Video Input Formats
  • AVI: You may not be able to convert AVI format files that are not supported by Video for Windows.
  • MPEG 1 and MPEG 2: You cannot convert DVD video files.
  • MPEG 4: Only files recorded with Memory Stick Video Format are guaranteed for proper operation.
  • QuickTime® Format: To convert QuickTime format files, install the latest version of QuickTime Player on your computer. The latest QuickTime Player is required to enjoy RSS channels.
  • WMV: To convert WMV (Windows Media® Video) format files, install the latest version of Windows Media Player on your computer. If you can play back WMV files with the Windows Media Player, you can convert the files.
  • DVR-MS: DVR-MS format files are supported only in Windows XP Media Center Edition.
  • TV program files recorded with Giga Pocket version 5.0 or later
  • TV program files recorded with VAIO Zone software: For VAIO computers only. You cannot convert recorded digital broadcasting program files.

  • NOTE: Image Converter 3 cannot convert copy-protected videos and may be unable to convert videos even if they are not copy-protected.
