    Benefits and improvements

    This utility installs VAIO Media plus software version 1.3.1.02160 and provides the following improvements over the version of VAIO Media plus software included with the STR-DA6400ES:
    • Resolves an issue where iTunes® files may be accidentally moved to the trash
    • Resolves an issue where Picture Motion Browser files may be lost
    • Improves playability of high resolution AVC video content.
    What is VAIO Media plus Software?

    VAIO Media plus software allows you to quickly find content on your home network, such as music, photos, and videos, and view the content on your computer.

    By connecting other devices to VAIO Media plus, you can also find and view the content on the connected devices through the home network. For example, you can enjoy photos and music, stored on your computer, on your compatible TV and audio device; or you can play a TV program, recorded with a hard disk recorder, on your compatible computer.

    This software is intended to be installed on your computer and used in conjunction with your STR-DA6400ES Multi Channel AV Receiver.

    System Requirements

    • Computer: IBM PC/AT or compatible
    • Operating System: A factory preinstalled version of Microsoft® Windows® XP or Windows Vista® operating system.
      Notes:

      Please make sure that the latest operating system service pack is installed. (SP1 for Windows Vista operating system or SP3 for Windows XP operating system.)

      64-bit versions of Windows XP operating system are not supported

    • CPU (for Windows XP): Intel® Celeron® M processor 1.40 GHz or higher (Core 2 Duo 1.80 GHz or higher is recommended)
    • CPU (for Windows Vista): Intel Core Duo 1.33 GHz or higher (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz or higher is recommended)
    • Memory (RAM) (for Windows XP): 512 MB or more (1 GB or more is recommended)
    • Memory (RAM) (for Windows Vista): 1 GB or more (2 GB or more is recommended)
    • Graphics Chip: Graphics chip by Intel, NVIDIA or ATI.
    • Video Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (128 MB or more with the latest driver installed is recommended)
    • Display: 800 X 600 or higher resolution
    • Hard Disk (HDD): 500 MB or more is recommended
    • Network: 100 Base-TX or higher
    • Sound Card: Direct Sound compatible sound card
    Note: Sony does not guarantee trouble-free operation on all computers that satisfy the system requirements. Other software operating in the background may affect the operation of this software.

    1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
    2. Download the VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
    3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and verify that the size of the VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe file is 85.5 MB (89,750,480 bytes).
      1. Right-click the VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe file, and then click "Properties".
      2. On the "VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe Properties" screen, verify that the "Size:" listed is "85.5 MB (89,750,480 bytes)".
        Note: The "Size on disk:" listed may be different. That is normal.
      3. If the file size is different than "85.5 MB (89,750,480 bytes)", please download the VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe file again.
    4. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe file to begin the installation.
    5. Please follow the on-screen prompts carefully to complete the installation.
    6. When the installation is complete, click "Finish" to close the installer window.
    7. Shut down and restart the computer.

    After the computer restarts, the installation of the VAIO Media plus software is complete.
