Before You Start
Determine if you need this update
This firmware update is intended for NW-WS410 series Walkman® players that have a firmware version lower than 1.03. To check the model and firmware version of your player, please follow the steps below.
Note: This update isn't necessary if your Walkman player has already been updated by the automatic firmware update function to version 1.03.
- Connect the Walkman player to your computer using the supplied USB cradle.
- On your computer, navigate to the WALKMAN folder.
- Locate and open the information.txt file to display the Walkman player model name, memory capacity, and the firmware version.
If the version number is 1.03 or higher, this firmware update isn't necessary.
Before You Start
- WARNING! This firmware update and any changes incurred by it are permanent. It's not possible to return to a previous firmware version after updating this firmware. By continuing this update process and downloading and updating this firmware, you acknowledge that you are aware and understand that this update cannot be reversed.
- IMPORTANT: It is strongly recommended that you transfer all tracks and data from your player to your computer before performing this update. Tracks and data that remain on the player may be damaged or deleted during the update process.
- In order to install this update, there must be at least 60 MB of free space on the player. Please confirm the free space. If there isn't enough free space in the built-in flash memory, transfer any unnecessary data back to your computer to increase free space.
- During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in to the computer as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
Download & Install
Installation Instructions
- Click Download Now to begin the download process.
- Read the Software Agreement and, if you agree, click Accept Agreement.
- Download the NW-WS410_V1_03.dmg file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Connect your Walkman player to your computer using the supplied USB cradle.
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the NW-WS410_V1_03.dmg file to begin the installation.
- Carefully follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
Notes:- Do not disconnect the player from the computer while the update is in progress.
- For macOS 10.15 users: When you start the update tool the first time on macOS 10.15, a ["Software Update Tool" would like to access files on a removable volume] message is shown. If you click [OK], the updating starts. If you click [Don’t Allow], an error will be displayed and the updating will fail.
- When the update complete message is displayed, click Finish.
- After the update completes, you may disconnect the Walkman player from the USB cradle.
Confirm Successful Update (optional)
- Connect the Walkman player to your computer using the supplied USB cradle.
- On your computer, navigate to the WALKMAN folder.
- Locate and open the information.txt file.
- If the version number is 1.03, the update is successfully installed.
