How can I set a flash to the optical wireless mode when the flash supports both the radio wireless and optical wireless functions?

Follow the steps below to set your external flash in either optical wireless controller or optical wireless remote mode.
Before you start
- Make sure the controller and remote are within 5 meters of each other.
- Set up the controller and the remote on the same wireless optical channel.
- It's better to use radio wireless mode if both controller and remote have radio wireless features.
- Check your flash manual for model-specific instructions. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
Set up the flash as a controller
- Mount the flash on your camera's multi-interface shoe.
- Set your flash to optical wireless mode.
- Press the MENU button.
- Select the tab.
- Select SELECT.
- Select the icon.
- Set your flash to CTRL (optical controller) mode:
- Press the WL button.
- Select CTRL.
Set up the flash as a remote
- Set your flash to optical wireless.
- Press the MENU button.
- Select the tab.
- Select SELECT.
- Select the icon.
- Set your flash in RMT (optical remote) mode:
- Press the WL button.
- Select RMT.
Note: If you're using the built-in flash of an A-mount camera as a controller, make sure CH of your flash is set to 1.
