How to extend the camera battery runtime using a portable power bank

Using a portable battery charger while capturing photos or recording videos can extend the camera's battery runtime.

Before you start

• The portable battery charger will provide power to the camera but will not charge the camera’s battery while the camera is ON. The camera’s battery may still drain slowly even when an external portable power source is attached.
• Removing the battery from the camera will cause the unit to power off, even while using a USB power supply.
• While using a USB power supply, the USB cable should only be unplugged when the camera is turned off.
• Continuous video recording times may be shorter using USB power, as the camera’s internal temperature may rise. The area around the USB port may also become warm; please handle it carefully.
• Make sure the portable power charger doesn't exceed the maximum amperage.

Steps to connect the portable battery charger

1. Insert a fully charged battery into your camera.
   Note: The camera won't function without a battery, even when connected to USB power.
2. Connect a fully charged portable battery charger to the camera using the supplied USB cable or one that complies with USB standards, and then turn ON the camera.
   
   Notes: If your camera supports USB PD (USB Power Delivery) and features a multi/micro USB and USB Type-C® terminal, you can charge it using the USB Type-C terminal.
3. The battery and charger icons will appear on the camera's screen, indicating a USB power supply. The portable battery will then begin supplying power to the camera.
   Depending on the display, the icon may disappear after a while. Press DISP to display if you want the icons to appear again.
   
4. After using the USB power, turn OFF the camera. Charging will start when the camera is OFF. If you are not charging your camera, unplug the USB cable.

Note: If you supply power to the camera via a computer or USB device, set USB Power Supply to On in the camera menu.

• MENU → (Setup) → USB → USB Power Supply → On
• MENU → (Setup) → USB Power Supply → On
