How to format the external hard disk drive (HDD) using a Mac computer.
- Using the supplied USB cable, connect the external hard disk drive (HDD) to the computer.
- On the computer, open Disk Utility.
- On the left side of the Disk Utility window, click the external HDD that you connected.
- Select the Erase tab.
- Under Volume Format, select MS-DOS File System.
NOTE: The MS-DOS File System on an Apple® Macintosh® computer is also known as FAT32 on a Windows® operating system.
- Click the Erase button.
