Unable to view a 3D program, movie or game on my active 3D TV
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
The inability to view content in 3D can be due to an issue with the installation, improper synchronization of the glasses, or a problem with the 3D source. This solution is designed to assist with each of these factors in order to attain 3D viewing.
3D Sync Transmitter set up:
NOTE: If your set has a built in 3D Transmitter, make sure there is nothing blocking the transmitter. The 3D transmitter is just to the right of the Sony® logo on the TV.
- Turn off the TV and make sure that the 3D sync cable is securely connected to the 3D SYNC terminal on your TV.
- Turn on the TV and confirm that the 3D menu items appear in the OPTIONS menu list. (If not, with the transmitter connected, reset the television .)
- Using the supplied remote, press the OPTIONS button.
- The 3D menu option should be selectable. If not, the transmitter may not be securely connected or the TV is not receiving a 3D signal.
- Set the 3D Sync Transmitter in front of the TV and make sure that there are no obstacles between the 3D Sync Transmitter and the 3D glasses.
- Adjust the appropriate angle of the 3D Sync Transmitter based on the installation.
NOTE: If connected correctly, the LED of 3D Sync Transmitter can be seen with a digital camera or camera phone. (3D content must be playing.)
3D glasses:
NOTE: Not all 3D glasses are compatible with your 3D display. Use TDG-BR series glasses with your 3D TV. Use TDG-PJ series glasses with 3D projector.
- Make sure that the insulating sheet that is shipped on the glasses is removed before using the product for the first time.
- Make sure that there is nothing in between the glasses and the TV or 3D Transmitter.
- Make sure that the 3D glasses are powered on.
NOTES:
- The LED in the glasses will flash every 3 seconds.
- If LED flashes three times every three seconds, the battery capacity is low and should be replaced.
Content / Source issues:
- Make sure that the 3D source device (Blu-ray Disc® player, PS3™ console, cable box or satellite receiver, etc.) is connected to the TV using a High-Speed HDMI® cable. Using any other type of HDMI cable may prevent the 3D signal from being sent to the TV.
- Verify that the resolution of the source device is set to output is either 720p or 1080i.
- The 3D display mode is automatically selected when a 3D signal is detected by the TV. The message below will appear on the lower right corner of the screen. If you are not seeing this message, then make sure your source material is 3D.
- If you are seeing two near-identical pictures, the TV will need to be set to the appropriate 3D Format.
- Using the supplied remote, press the OPTIONS button.
- Select 3D.
- Select 3D Format.
- Select any of the following depending on how the dual-image is appearing on the screen.
