Screen mirroring doesn't work on a Wi-Fi Direct connection
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
The Wi-Fi Direct® feature of the TV by itself can't display the content of a connected device. It requires Screen mirroring or Miracast® technology to display the contents of a computer or mobile device.
- Miracast builds upon Wi-Fi Direct technology with mechanisms to negotiate the video connection between devices, set up content protection (if needed), stream content, and maintain the video session.
Manufacturers have different names for the Miracast feature. Below are some examples:
Manufacturer | Miracast Feature |
Sony® | Screen mirroring |
Samsung® | AllShare Cast or Screen Mirroring |
LG® Nexus™ | Wireless Display |
- Check the product manual to determine if it's Wi-Fi Certified Miracast. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- For third party devices, check the Miracast support website for more information.
