Below are the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about HDMI® connection specifications:
Specifications for Videos
What is the highest resolution I can get as an output from the HDMI 1, HDMI 2 jacks of the Blu-ray Disc™ player?
You can get a 4K resolution video with a 24P or 60P video frame rate with the HDMI 1 jack.
How do I get optimum resolution?
To output the optimum resolution, set Output Video Resolution to Auto on the Blu-ray Disc player, as follows:
- On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Setup.
- Select Output Video Resolution in the Screen Settings category.
- Select Auto.
Can the player output video from HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 at the same time?
- UHP-H1: Connect using HDMI cables through an AV receiver or a TV. If the AV Separation Mode setting is OFF, both HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 can output video. For further details about the AV Separation Mode, refer to the instructions guide that came with the player.
Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- For all other models, the HDMI 2 (Audio Only) port only outputs digital audio signals.
Why is there no picture when I connect the player to an AV receiver or a TV?
If the connected AV receiver or TV is not compatible with 4K, there is no picture on the TV screen when the Output Video Resolution in Screen Settings of the Blu-ray Disc player is set to 4K.
In this case, check the following:
- If the TV is not compatible with 4K:
Set Output Video Resolution in Screen Settings to Auto. - If the AV receiver is not compatible with 4K:
Set Output Video Resolution in Screen Settings to Auto, or connect the Blu-ray Disc player directly to the TV with an HDMI cable.
Specifications for Audio
Will there be a difference in the audio output format if the Blu-ray Disc player is connected to the TV through the AV receiver or without the AV receiver?
It depends on the specifications of your TV or if there is no AV receiver connected between the TV and the player. The highest available format will be selected.
Does Hi-Res sound apply to HDMI audio?
What are the supported audio formats for HDMI Hi-Res audio?
The following formats are compatible except on the UBP-X700 and UBP-UX70 Blu-ray Disc players:
- DSD (DSF and DFF)
- FLAC
- ALAC
- AIFF
- WAV
Specifications for Playback
Why does the resume playback take around 4 - 6 seconds before the picture appears?
This is because the transition process of the output resolution takes time until the picture is normally output to the connected device.
Can I change the output from the AV receiver speakers to the TV speakers during playback?
In the AV receiver's setting, choose TV output for audio, rather than the audio system.
Can I play a 4K UHD disc on the Blu-ray Disc player?
Yes, except on the UHP-H1 model, which only supports native 4K videos.
