How to establish a Bluetooth wireless connection using the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless and Service Pack 1 (SP1).
Follow this procedure to establish a connection between a device using Bluetooth wireless technology that requires authentication and the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless.
IMPORTANT: Only use the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless with VAIO® notebook computers using the Windows XP operating system with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or higher installed.
NOTES:
- Only one USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless may be used at any one time with each computer.
- Do not insert the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless into a USB hub.
- Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, double-click the Printers and Other Hardware icon.
- In the Printers and Other Hardware window, under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Wireless Link.
- In the Wireless Link window, on the Bluetooth tab, click the Add button.
- In the Bluetooth Connection Wizard window, click the Next button.
- Under Select the device you want to authenticate, click to select the device to be connected.
- Click the Next button.
- Under Authenticate the device?, click to select Yes.
- Click the Next button.
- Under Enter a passkey for the Bluetooth device, take note of the number displayed next to Passkey.
- On the device to be connected, enter the passkey.
NOTE: Refer to the documentation supplied by the manufacturer for details on entering a passkey.
- On the computer, under What services do you want to enable, click to select the Dial-up Networking (DUN) box.
NOTE: If the Dial-up Networking (DUN) box is not available, the phone may not support Dial-Up Networking. Contact the manufacturer of the phone for further instruction.
- Click the Next button.
- Under Completing the Bluetooth Connection Wizard, click the Finish button.
- In the Wireless Link window, click the OK button.
