The text and icons appear fuzzy or blurry after upgrading to the Windows 8.1 operating system.
Microsoft® has made changes to the Display Settings in Windows® 8.1 in that the dots-per-inch (dpi) scaling function is now a unique setting for each monitor. This can cause blurry text and icons on some monitors.
Follow these steps to fix this issue.
- Press the Windows Logo + X key combination on the keyboard and, from the list, click Control Panel.
NOTES: Because the Control Panel is a traditional Windows Desktop application, if you were not already there, the interface will change to the Desktop and the Control Panel window will open.
- In the Control Panel window, click Appearance and Personalization.
- In the Appearance and Personalization window, click Display.
- On the Display screen, click to place a check the box next to Let me choose one scaling level for all of my displays, and then click the Apply button.
The text and icons should now appear like they did in the Windows® 8 operating system.
