How to change, customize or control the computer settings.

The New Windows User Interface (UI) provides you access to most of the computer settings you will need via the PC Settings screen. The PC Settings screen is a one-stop hub for all the items you need in customizing and controlling your computer, such as Personalization, Users, Notifications, Search, Share, General, Privacy, Devices, Wireless, Ease of Access, Sync your Settings, HomeGroup and Windows Update.

Follow these steps to access and begin using the PC Settings screen.

1. Point to (but do not click) the lower-right or top-right corner of the screen, and then click to select the Settings charm.

   NOTE:  The Windows Logo + I key combination will also take you to the Settings screen.

2. In the Settings screen, in the lower-right corner, click Change PC settings.
3. In the PC Settings screen you will have the following option tabs:
   • Personalize - The Personalize tab allows you to change settings for your Lock screen, Start screen and Account Picture.
     • Under Lock screen, you can set the background image of your Lock screen , and set the apps to a display quick status or detailed information while your screen is locked .
     • Under Start screen, you can set the background color theme for your Start screen.
     • Under Account picture, you can set your account picture from an existing file on your computer or SkyDrive, or take a snapshot of yourself using the built-in computer camera.
     
     
     
   • Users - The Users tab allows you to choose between your local account or Microsoft account to login in to Windows , or to create additional accounts to allow others to login and use the computer. You can also change your password, create a picture password for an account, set a 4 digit PIN number for an account, or set a password that must be entered when the computer wakes up.
     
     
   • Notifications - The Notifications tab allows you to enable or disable app notifications during login and on the lock screen, enable or disable notification sounds, or enable or disable the notifications within specific apps.
     
     
   • Search - The Search tab allows you to decide whether or not to have the operating system show the apps you search most often, and to save your searches as future search suggestions. You can also set which apps can be used to provide additional search results.
     
     
   • Share - The Share tab allows you to set which apps will appear when you use the Share charm.
     
     
   • General - In the General tab you can set the Time and Date, App switching, Spelling, Language and refreshing of your computer.
     
     
   • Privacy - The Privacy tab allows you to set whether to allow apps to use your current location, name and account picture.
     
     
   • Devices - In the Devices tab you can manage the devices connected to your computer as well as the devices connected within your network. You can also choose whether or not you want to allow downloads whenever you are on a metered Internet connection, to help prevent extra charges.
     
     
   • Wireless - In the Wireless tab you can choose to enable or disable Airplane mode, or to turn on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or 3G/4G data connections, if available.
     
     
   • Ease of Access - In the Ease of Access tab you can enable or disable the High contrast setting, enable or disable the Make everything on your screen bigger setting, or to enable or disable the Tab through web pages and apps using caret browsing setting.
     
     
   • Sync Your Settings - The Sync Your Settings tab allows you to select the settings you want to sync with your Microsoft account, and whether or not to sync over a metered Internet connection.
     
     
   • HomeGroup - The HomeGroup tab allows you to join to a particular HomeGroup in your network, and to manage the settings when sharing content with your homegroup members.
     
     
   • Windows Update - The Window Update tab allows you to check for any updates available for your computer using the Window Update utility .
