What is the VAIO Personalization Manager and can it be disabled?

The VAIO Personalization Manager is a service used by the VAIO Media Gallery, VAIO Music Box and other applications. The main purpose of the VAIO Personalization Manager is to learn a user’s preferences from the history of operations performed by that user on the computer, and then recommend additional content that matches those preferences. Once this service is initialized it will be executed automatically every time the computer boots into Windows.

IMPORTANT: By disabling the VAIO Personalization Manager service, the VAIO Media Gallery, VAIO Music Box and other applications linked to that service will not be able to use the feature to provide recommendations, and so may not perform as expected or differently than they have been.

Follow these steps to disable the VAIO Personalization Manager service:

1. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel window, click System and Security.
3. In the System and Security window, click VAIO Analysis Manager Settings.
4. In the VAIO Analysis Manager Settings window, in the left hand column, click Preference Learning.
5. In the Preference Learning section, click to remove the check from the box next to Use preference learning function.
6. Click the Apply button, and then click the OK button.
7. Restart the Computer.
