Nothing shows on the external display when using a VGA to HDMI conversion cable.
An HDMI-to-VGA cable, such as the one shown below, is not designed to connect a computer to an external display or TV and properly output video. The external display will show a blank or black screen. To output video in this manner, you must use an analog to digital converter box with the appropriate connections.
NOTE: Sony does not support converter boxes.
