Error: S.M.A.R.T. (SMART) drive failure message occurs during boot up.
If an error appears stating: S.M.A.R.T. status bad - backup and replace, then the hard drive has detected damage to the disk and failure of the drive is imminent. Back up all data on the disk immediately.
NOTE: This error may also be referred to as a Smart Drive Failure.
The hard drive will need to be replaced to resolve this issue.  Go to Product Repair. 
IMPORTANT: There is a new malicious program pretending to be a legitimate security software program. It will detect numerous false problems and display various critical errors alerts on the computer in order to trick you into thinking your computer has a lot of serious problems. Do not be confused between the legitimate and fake S.M.A.R.T. drive error. The fake error will state that all you have to do in order to clean your machine is purchase certain software. If you are confronted with a false message, DO NOT proceed with any purchase and immediately turn off the computer.
The image below is an example of a variation of this fake, rogue virus. If you see something like this appear on your computer you will need to use all available Anti-virus and anti-malware tools to remove the infection from the computer.
