How to enable or disable the Windows Firewall feature.
Follow these steps to enable or disable the Windows Firewall feature.
- Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, click Security.
- In the Security window, under Windows Firewall, click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
NOTE: If prompted for an administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password, click Continue or click Yes.
- In the Windows Firewall Settings window, click to select On (recommended) to enable the firewall or Off (not recommended) to disable the firewall.
- Click the OK button and then close the Security window.
