How to enable or disable the Windows Firewall feature.

    Follow these steps to enable or disable the Windows Firewall feature.

    1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
    2. In the Control Panel window, click Security.
    3. In the Security window, under Windows Firewall, click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

      NOTE: If prompted for an administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password, click Continue or click Yes.

    4. In the Windows Firewall Settings window, click to select On (recommended) to enable the firewall or Off (not recommended) to disable the firewall.
    5. Click the OK button and then close the Security window.
