How to establish a Bluetooth wireless connection using the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless and Service Pack 1 (SP1).

    Follow this procedure to establish a connection between a device using Bluetooth wireless technology that requires authentication and the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless. Image

    IMPORTANT: Only use the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless with VAIO® notebook computers using the Windows XP operating system with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or higher installed.

    NOTES:

    • Only one USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless may be used at any one time with each computer.
    • Do not insert the USB adapter for Bluetooth wireless into a USB hub.
    1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
    2. In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, double-click the Printers and Other Hardware icon.
    3. In the Printers and Other Hardware window, under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Wireless Link.
    4. In the Wireless Link window, on the Bluetooth tab, click the Add button.
    5. In the Bluetooth Connection Wizard window, click the Next button.
    6. Under Select the device you want to authenticate, click to select the device to be connected.
    7. Click the Next button.
    8. Under Authenticate the device?, click to select Yes.
    9. Click the Next button.
    10. Under Enter a passkey for the Bluetooth device, take note of the number displayed next to Passkey.
    11. On the device to be connected, enter the passkey.

      NOTE: Refer to the documentation supplied by the manufacturer for details on entering a passkey.

    12. On the computer, under What services do you want to enable, click to select the Dial-up Networking (DUN) box.

      NOTE: If the Dial-up Networking (DUN) box is not available, the phone may not support Dial-Up Networking. Contact the manufacturer of the phone for further instruction.

    13. Click the Next button.
    14. Under Completing the Bluetooth Connection Wizard, click the Finish button.
    15. In the Wireless Link window, click the OK button.
