The Secure Digital (SD) card reader does not recognize a 64 GB or 128 GB SD card.
SD cards larger than 32 GB, also known as SDXC memory cards, use an exFAT file system, which increases the storage capacity to 2 TB and beyond. Because of this new format type, the SD card slot on your computer may not recognize the card and you may receive one of the following messages:
- You need to format the disk in drive X: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?
- The disk in the drive X is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?
WARNING: Do NOT format an SDXC card in a reader that does not support SDXC or all the data on the card will be erased and the card will longer be exFAT formatted.
To add support for the exFAT file system and use an SDXC card properly in your computer, you must install an update. Depending on the operating system you are using, follow one of the links below:
NOTE: The updates also are available through Windows Update as an optional update.
