This software updates the firmware of your Bluetooth® Audio System to version 1700 for improved stability of the system where on rare occasions the audio unit may not start when powered on or resets when switching from ACC OFF to ACC ON.

Before You Start
How to Check if You Need the Update
- Power on the main unit.
- Press and hold the SOURCE button (SRC is printed on the button) for 1 second to turn the source off and display the clock.
- Press MENU button.
- Turn the control dial to display SET GENERAL, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display SET FIRMWARE, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display FW VERSION, and then press the control dial.
- If the version number displayed is 1700, you do not need to update the firmware.
Important Notes
- WARNING: To prevent the battery voltage from becoming too low during the update process, it is recommended to perform this update with the car (or boat) engine running. Before starting the update process with the car (or boat) engine running, be sure to park the vehicle in a safe place and keep the engine running until the update is complete. This update takes approximately 1 minute to complete.
- This update requires a computer with an Internet connection and a USB storage device.
- To avoid Bluetooth connection problems, it is recommended that you delete the Bluetooth pair setting (to the Car Audio device) on your cellular phone and then perform the Bluetooth connection again after the firmware update has been completed.
- If the AUTO OFF setting was used before updating the firmware, please set the AUTO OFF setting again after completing the update.

If the PARENTAL setting of SiriusXM was used before updating the firmware, please set the pass code to reset the PARENTAL setting again after completing the update.
- It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
Download & Install
Download and Transfer the Update File to Your USB Storage Device
- Connect a compatible USB storage device to your computer. Note: The USB storage device must be formatted for FAT16 or FAT32 file systems.
- Ensure your computer is connected to the Internet.
- Download the 15BTHIGH_v1700.dat file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference) on your computer.
- Copy the update file to the USB storage device.
- For Microsoft® Windows® operating systems: Go to the directory where the folder was created, right-click the 15BTHIGH_v1700.dat file and, from the menu, click Send To..., and then click the drive (EX: Removable Disk E:) that represents your USB storage device. The file will be copied onto your USB storage device.
- For Apple® Mac OS X® operating systems: Drag and drop the 15BTHIGH_v1700.dat file to the root folder of the USB device.
WARNING: This update will not be performed if the file is not copied to the root directory of the USB storage device or if the name of the file is modified. - Remove the USB storage device from your computer.

Updating the Firmware of the Main Unit with Your USB Storage Device
- Please follow all steps carefully.
- This update procedure (in your car) takes approximately 1 minute to complete.
- IMPORTANT: To prevent the battery voltage from becoming too low during the update process, it is recommended to perform this update with the car engine running. Before starting the update process with the car engine running, be sure to park the vehicle in a safe place and keep the engine running until the update is complete.
- Connect the USB storage device to the main unit and confirm that USB NO MUSIC is displayed.
- Press and hold the SOURCE button (SRC is printed on the button) for 1 second.
- Press the MENU button.
- Turn the control dial to display SET GENERAL, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display SET AUTO OFF, and then press the control dial.
- Make sure to turn the control dial to display AUTO OFF-xxx (xxx = 30S, 30M, or 60M), and set this setting to NO.
- Please confirm the display, AUTO OFF-NO, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display SET FIRMWARE, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display FW UPDATE, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display FW UPDATE-YES, and then press the control dial.
- The update starts with CHECKING displayed on the unit. Note: The update should finish in approximately 1 minute. When finished, the unit will automatically restart from the source OFF state (clock is displayed).
- Confirm that the firmware version is updated to version 1700 using the steps provided below.
- After confirming the version, the firmware update is complete.
Confirm the Firmware Version has Successful Updated
- Power on the main unit.
- Press and hold the SOURCE button (SRC is printed on the button) for 1 second to turn the source off and display the clock.
- Press the MENU button.
- Turn the control dial to display SET GENERAL, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display SET FIRMWARE, and then press the control dial.
- Turn the control dial to display FW VERSION, and then press the control dial.
- If the version number displayed is 1700, the firmware update was successful.
Questions & Answers
Audio Unit Does Not Start
Note: If your audio system will not power on and will not recover by pressing the reset button on the main unit, please follow the steps below:
- Turn off your car engine.
- Disconnect the power connection between the main unit and the battery in your car, and after waiting a few minutes, re-connect the power connection between the main unit and the battery in your car.
- Turn on your car engine, and then confirm that the main unit powers up.
- Update your audio system firmware.
