How to transfer data or content from my old iPhone by Xperia Transfer 2?

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

    Xperia® 1 IV, Xperia 10 IV, Xperia 5 IV, Xperia 1 V, and Xperia 10 V don't support data transfer with Xperia Transfer 2. Transfer the data using Google cloud services.

    IMPORTANT: On June 30th, 2023, the Xperia Transfer 2 service will stop, and the app will no longer be available for download via the Google Play™ Store. The reason is that the Android Operating System can transfer data from older models when setting up your new Xperia smartphone, and the service has become redundant. We recommend you update your phone to the latest available Android™ OS version (for that phone) to use the Android OS data transfer. For more information, refer to Xperia Transfer 2 App Ending

    Note: You need to download and install the "Xperia Transfer 2" application from Google Play™ on Xperia 1 II, Xperia 5 II, Xperia 10 II, Xperia PRO, Xperia 1 III, Xperia 10 III, Xperia 5 III, or Xperia PRO-I.

    Xperia Transfer 2 application transfers the data and content from your old smartphone (iPhone® / Android™) to your new Xperia.

    • You don't need to install the Xperia Transfer 2 to your old iPhone to transfer the data from your old iPhone. Instead, you can transfer the data and content from your old iPhone by following the Xperia Transfer 2 app instructions.
      Note: The iOS™ version on your old iPhone needs to be 9.0 or higher.
    • The Xperia Transfer 2 can't transfer data from within apps, such as point data in-game apps. Depending on the apps or service, you may get that type of data from your account by registering the account again on your new Xperia. For more information, contact the developer's support of each app or service.
    • Don't attempt to add, revise, or delete data while a data transfer procedure is in progress.
    • Make sure the batteries on both your new and old smartphones have at least 50% charged before you start the data transfer procedure.

    Transfer data from iPhone

    • Your old iPhone should be iOS version 9.0 or higher.
    • You can transfer the data to your old iPhone by cable connection. You can also transfer the data and content restored in iCloud by Wi-Fi.
    • You need to unregister the Message registration on your old iPhone to receive your new Xperia SMS/MMS messages. You may be able to unregister it in your old iPhone or using the web; refer to the home page of Apple Inc.

    Troubleshooting

    • Before you start, in your new Xperia phone, use the Google Play store to update the Xperia Transfer 2 app to the latest version available.
    • To transfer Message data, you will need to temporarily set the Xperia Transfer 2 app as the default SMS application on your new Xperia before you start transferring.
    • To temporarily set the Xperia Transfer 2 as the default SMS application on your new Xperia.
      1. Find and tap Settings → Apps & notifications → Default apps → SMS app.
      2. Set Xperia Transfer 2 as the default SMS application.

    After the transfer is complete, you can set your favorite messaging app as default by following the instructions on the Xperia Transfer 2. If you can't confirm the message data on your new Xperia even after the transfer, select your messaging app again in the settings of Apps & notifications.

    Transfer by cable connection

    • If the Xperia Transfer 2 gets stuck on the preparing screen, cancel it and start over from the beginning of the Xperia Transfer 2.

    Transfer from iCloud

    • Connect your new Xperia to the internet with Wi-Fi®.
    • Sync your iPhone with iCloud®.
    • If your iCloud account is locked, contact the Apple support page .
