How do I move apps from my device's internal storage to a memory card?

    Follow the instructions according to the operating system in your device.

    • Android 8.0

      1. Make sure that you have an SD card inserted into your device.
      2. Find and tap SettingsApps & notificationsApp info.
      3. Tap an app that you want to move to the memory card.
        Note: Only some apps can be moved to a memory card.
      4. Tap Storage.
      5. If the app supports changing where it's stored, a CHANGE button appears → tap CHANGE.
      6. Tap SD CardMOVE.
    • Android 6.0, 7.0, 7.1 or 7.1.1

      1. Make sure that you have an SD card inserted into your device.
      2. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
      3. Find and tap SettingsApps.
      4. Tap an app that you want to move to the memory card.
        Note: Only some apps can be moved to a memory card.
      5. Tap Storage.
      6. If the app supports changing where it's stored, a CHANGE button appears → tap CHANGE.
      7. Tap SD CardMOVE.
    • Android 4.4, 5.0 or 5.1

      1. Make sure that you have an SD card inserted into your device.
      2. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
      3. Find and tap SettingsApps.
      4. Tap the On SD card tab.
      5. Select application, then tap Move to SD card.

    Notes:

    • Some apps cannot be transferred to a memory card.
    • You can move apps to the SD card on Xperia Z series devices that run on Android 5.0 or higher. If your Xperia Z series device is running an older Android version, try updating to Android 5.0 or higher.
