How to turn on the Fast Startup feature.
The Fast Startup feature is a setting that helps your computer start up faster after being shutdown. The Windows® 8 operating system does this by saving the system information to a file when the computer is shutdown. Then, when you start your computer again, the operating system uses that information to resume your computer instead of needing to completely restart it.
Follow these steps to enable the Fast Startup feature.
- Press the Windows Logo + X key combination on the keyboard and, from the list, click Control Panel.
NOTES: Because the Control Panel is a traditional Windows Desktop application, if you were not already there, the interface will change to the Desktop and the Control Panel window will open.
- In the Control Panel window, click System and Security.
- In the System and Security screen, under Power Options, click Change what the power buttons do.
- In the System Settings screen, under Shutdown settings, click to place a checkmark in the box next to Turn on fast startup (recommended), and then click the Save changes button.
