The cassette compartment will not close or the tape keeps being ejected.
Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not close or the tape keeps being ejected.
WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Do not force the tape into the cassette compartment. Forcing the tape into the cassette compartment may damage the product and tape.
IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- Remove the tape from the cassette compartment.
- Ensure the proper type and size tape is being used.
- Ensure there is no packing material or other foreign objects inserted in the cassette compartment.
- If attempting to record, ensure the REC/SAVE switch on the cassette tape is set to the REC position, not the SAVE position.
- Reinsert the tape, ensuring that it is properly inserted.
- Attempt to close the cassette compartment.
- If the compartment still does not close or the tape is ejected again, remove the tape.
- Insert a different tape into the cassette compartment.
- Attempt to close the cassette compartment.
- If the issue is still unresolved, reset the device back to factory settings.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.  Go to Product Repair.
